Coffee with the Superintendent

Drop in at the Durango Public Library, second floor meeting room, to have a cup of coffee and join a dialogue with Superintendent Dan Snowberger this Wednesday, November 1st from 12:00-1:30. He'll be there to answer all your questions and listen to your ideas and feedback for Durango School District 9-R. The coffee's on us! Free coffee and light snacks provided by the Common Grounds Coffee Cart.

Student IDs for 2017/18

Dear Families,
You student’s new school ID was recently issued for the 2017-18 school year. Student IDs serve a multitude of purposes within the district, including bus access and school library use. Student IDs issued this year are valid through the entire school year, as well as through the beginning of the 2018/19 school year until new photos and IDs are issued.

October is Colorado Safe Schools Month

In 2014, it was signed into proclamation that October is the official Colorado Safe Schools Month. This focus allows schools and communities across the state to educate and focus on school safety within their unique communities.

Seeking Applicants - Personalized Competency Based Learning Team

An action in this year’s Teaching and Learning Plan is to convene a Personalized Competency Based Learning (PCBL) Team. As the district continues to evolved its instructional practices to support personalized learning based on individual competency, it is critical to have parents and our community involved in this process.  To that end, we are seeking representatives of each school and stakeholder group.

Picture Re-Take Day September 27th

Lifetouch Studios will be at Escalante Middle School for picture retakes and to capture pictures of students who were missing on picture day (August 29). All students and staff will have their picture taken for ID purposes, but ordering is optional. Order forms are available in the office or you can order online at mylifetouch.com. Use ID CG427715Y1 This option is good through September 28. RE-TAKES will take place September 27th.

Escalante Teachers Receive Recognition

Long-time teachers and advocates of the National History Day competition, Escalante Teacher’s John Hise and Rob Javier have received distinguished recognition for their efforts from the organization.

Air Quality Health Advisory From San Juan Basin Public Health

Intermountain West and Pacific Northwest wildfires are affecting local air quality. If smoke is thick or becomes noticeably thicker in your area you should remain indoors or if possible seek out locations where air is filtered. Unusually sensitive people throughout the region should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.

Pass the Hat For Houston

Escalante students are donating money to send to residents of the Houston area affected by Hurricane Harvey. Students who donate money are allowed to wear their hats in the building on Thursday and Friday, September 7 & 8 in honor of those affected by the hurricane. Please encourage your student to donate to this worthy cause and be involved in helping those in need.
