Student Retrieval of Personal Belongings and Returning School Items

Dear Escalante Community,

We appreciate your patience as we developed our plan for the pick-up of student materials. Starting on May 26, Escalante Middle School students can begin retrieving their personal belongings by Team/Last Name. Students with Chromebooks are asked to return those devices and retrieve personal items on June 1-2 so that they can continue to use the devices to support their learning.

Please see the link below to read more.

Ransom's Notes: A special Weekly Newsletter from your local therapy dog, Ransom

Hi everyone, Ransom here! So my human (you may know her as Ms. Robyn), told me that it is really important that we all stay at home and take care of ourselves to make sure as many humans as possible can stay safe and healthy right now. I am super bummed I can't see you all in person, but I love you all, so I definitely want to do my part to make sure you and your families stay well! Which means.... I get to have my own newsletter! I have lots of thoughts, and I am very excited to be able to share them with you all on, get ready for it, Ransom’s Notes!

Here's how it will work: At least once a week (hopefully twice, but man it is hard to type with paws, so you guys will just have to be patient while I get things up and running. I've tried to use that Google speech to text thing too, but it just keeps typing "bark bark bark bark bark."), I will send out my thoughts around a theme; some of my "Tricks for Pawsitivity," or activities you can try around that theme; and a "Dinner Question," just a fun question to talk about with those around you. I would love to hear back from any and all of you about if you tried the activities, how adorable I look in pictures, what your thoughts on the theme are, your answers to the Dinner Questions, or anything else at all. Read my weekly notes attached below.

Work hard, be kind, and stay PAWSITIVE!

Escalante 2019/20 Yearbooks are for sale as long as quantities last, so don't miss out, buy yours today! Purchase your yearbook by clicking the link below. (https://escalantems.store.creatorstudiopro.com/)

It's not too late to submit pictures that may be included in the yearbook. Email pictures to Mr. Tidwell at stidwell@durangoschools.org. Don't forget to include pictures of you working from home. We are living in a historical moment in time and we want to record these moments in the yearbook.

If we return to the 2019/20 school year, you will receive your yearbook the last week of school in May. If we don't return this school year, yearbooks will be distributed to students the first week back in session for the 2020/21 school year so you can get them signed by friends then. Incoming Freshmen (this years 8th graders) will receive their yearbook at DHS or BPHS. If you move over the summer, your yearbook will be mailed to you in August, so don't miss out, ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK TODAY!

*Congratulations Sora Pearson for winning the Yearbook Cover Contest! A portion of her winning cover is shown. Sora not only wins bragging rights of her artwork, but she won $50 and will have her artwork on your shelf for years to come! Way to fly high Sora!
