Bus riders, be sure to show your student ID card when boarding

Remembering your ID

Students should have their ID card with them every day to board the bus. Our bus drivers have been reminding students of this, helping everyone get into the habit of keeping their ID handy.

What to do if an ID is lost

We understand that IDs can sometimes get misplaced. If a student has lost their ID, please have them visit the school office as soon as possible to arrange for a replacement. In the meantime, students may still access the bus by speaking with their bus driver, who will help ensure they can safely get to and from school while waiting for a new ID.

Reminders and follow-up

Bus drivers will provide students with reminders if they do not have their ID. However, if a student consistently attempts to ride without their ID, the bus driver will notify parents/guardians so that we can work together to support each student in following this safety practice.

How families can support

Families can help by encouraging students to keep their ID in a specific place, like a backpack or bus pass holder, so it’s always available when they need it. You may also want to review this new policy with your student and discuss the importance of safety for everyone riding the bus. Your support in reinforcing this habit at home will make a big difference as students adjust to this new procedure.

Currently, bus drivers are NOT turning away students who have lost or forgotten their ID card. The Transportation Department has received some calls about this, but we want to clarify that drivers are only reminding students of the importance and need to have their ID on them.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and organized transportation system for all students!
