Solar Powered Car Contest What is a Solar Powered Car?

A solar powered car is propelled by a solar pannel which converts solar energy to mechanical energy. Then a motor converts the mechinical energy to kinetic energy of motion, with the help of some gears and an axle.

Create a solar powered car that can travel the greatest distance.

Project Assessment
Students will research alternative energy resources and create a futuristic poster about attitudes towards fuel efficiency. Students will create a flyer on reducing energy costs at home to share with their families. Solar powered cars will be scored using a provided rubric. Additionally, students will earn points for daily construction and teamwork.
Extra points will be awarded for contest winners!
