8th Grade Families - Save the Date!

Durango High School welcomes all 8th grade students and their families to join us to learn more about our school on Monday, January 30th from 5-7pm. Parents and prospective students will have the opportunity to explore the variety of elective options and core classes offered at DHS. Families will learn more about concurrent enrollment opportunities, AP courses, work experience, internships, clubs, activities, athletics, and student support programs.

Hour of Code: A Global Movement Comes to 9-R

The vision for Hour of Code is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science, just like biology, chemistry or algebra. Code.org organizes the annual Hour of Code campaign which has engaged 10% of all students in the world, and provides the leading curriculum for K-12 computer science in the largest school districts in the United States.

Graduation Guidelines Proposed for Class of 2021

Does the definition of a “well-rounded student” depend solely on academic success in the core subjects? Does it depend on students’ abilities to test well? Does it depend on their disposition and character? Many would argue that it is the combination of several aspects of education that lead to a successful graduate, whether that graduate plans to attend college or join the workforce upon graduation.

Title VI Welcomes Dr. Parsons-Yazzie

Through a Durango Education Foundation (DEF) core academic grant, the Durango 9-R Title VI program has been able to partner with the Durango Public Library to bring author Dr. Evangeline Parsons-Yazzie to Durango for a special cultural literacy enrichment program. Dr. Parsons-Yazzie will also be visiting some of our schools and reading her book to our students.
