At Escalante we open each day in Crew, which are small teacher-led groups that focus on building teamwork and strong relationships throughout our school. Essentially, our Crew motto “We are crew, not passengers” extends throughout the school day from there. At Escalante, everyone grabs a paddle and works around here - there is no passive way to earn a great education! Therefore, our students actively track their own learning, engage in challenging work worth doing, and frequently reflect on their academic progress. Students are at the center of their learning here, which is why they are the leaders of their parent conferences.
